The LITEideas design team was invited to produce a lighting design for the refurbishment of the 'junior' school of Queen Elizabeth Grammar School; Wakefield by Adam Hickling of Yorkshire based Interior Designers, Innsight Design.
The brief was to produce a lighting design which was energy efficient and functional without compromising on aesthetics or visual comfort.
The classrooms feature recessed modular luminaires equipped with 'virtual daylight' lenses and dimmable control gear, linked to combined daylight/presence sensors and scene setting equipment in order to maximize functionality while keeping energy consumption to a minimum.
In the corridors low energy downlights were installed into a curved dropped ceiling the line of the ceiling feature is emphasized by the introduction of colour via colour changing cold cathode technology adding a vibrant feel to these already bright and airy spaces.
The lighting was supplied and project managed by Colin Clark of Liteideas parent company Litetask limited.
