Project details

Completed: March 2015
Cost: 27.5m Awards:
Winner of the RIBA national award 2016 RIBA Yorkshire Award 2016.

The design brief was to create spaces that accommodate the undergraduate library in one distinct volume that has an atrium as a social ‘heart’ space with spaces spilling into this central core. The spaces had to flow together to create a ‘knowledge share’ culture.

Working with Architects ADP and Consulting engineers Couch Perry Wilkes the design has created a highly sustainable landmark building which is the first city-fronting building the university has commissioned for over 30 years. LITEideas were delighted to partner them on this project and to assist in ensuring the lighting met this vision.
