Project details

The University of York is one of the most highly respected seats of learning in the UK and was recently named University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards 2010. In October 2008 the Liteideas design team commenced work on the £750 million expansion of the Heslington East campus development in conjunction with Shepherd Engineering Services and key design partners.

The brief for the project was to develop initial proposals by Arup and BDP into a coherent, compliant and energy efficient lighting scheme covering the departmental buildings for Computer Science, Theatre Film and Television, York Law & Management, and The Ron Cooke Hub.

To compliment the interior scheme a fluent exterior design was developed to unify the buildings aesthetically with minimal environmental impact while providing a space which could be used in safety and comfort.

In addition to undertaking the design program Liteideas, via parent company Litetask Limited, took on a key project management role throughout the projects procurement, logistic and installation process.

Liteideas would like to thank SES, WSP and Silcock Leedham for their cooperation.

"Liteideas have been instrumental in the success of the lighting scheme at the University of York, Heslington East Campus. Whether it be Office Space, Meeting Room, Atrium or External Lighting, LiteIdeas always came up with the right solution. Highly recommended!"
